The PADI Open Water Diver course is the most popular diver course around the world today and possibly the most recognized diver certification, with more people becoming divers in this way than any other. After certification you can use your PADI diver liscence to dive with a buddy anywhere in the world.
Phuket is a great place to learn to scuba dive, with sheltered dive sites for beginners to get comfortable in the water and opportunities to do all sorts of diving including on wrecks and reefs, taking in the beauty of the thousands of tropical marine species in the local waters.
The course is broken down into three segments:
Knowledge Development: This consists of reading the PADI Open Water Diver manual, watching the DVD and taking some quizzes in the classroom with your PADI Instructor going over anything that you do not understand completely.
There is also the option for those who just want to get into the water quicker when they come here, to do the on-line PADI eLearning option when you watch the videos and read the manual segments online, whilst being able to go over difficulties with the instructor via web communication. This is a particularly good option for those who might be pressed for time and want to learn diving.
Confined Water Training: Now you are in the water! The PADI Open Water Course Confined Water Dives and training is done in a local diver-training swimming pool. In this session you will learn the basic skills to dive with SCUBA safely, and various troubleshooting techniques. Being in the pool allows you to comfortably learn the skills in a safe environment with no outside factors such as visibility and current.
Open Water Dives: The last 2 days of the PADI Open Water Diver Course are spent out on the boat at a local reef suitable for diver training. Here on Phuket depending on the boat schedule, Open Water training dives are scheduled either at dive sites around the island of koh Racha Yai or the Koh Phi Phi archipelago.
You will do four PADI Open Water Dives over the two days, also experiencing the fun of being on a dive boat in the beautiful tropical waters surrounding Phuket. Segments of the dives will be spent repeating some of the skills, which you mastered in the swimming pool. The rest of the dive s will be spent doing what you came here to do. Dive and explore the reefs, taking the chance to admire the spectacular underwater world, whilst at the same time experiencing the wonders of this new “weightless” environment.
Upon completion of this course you will have earnt The PADI Open Water Diver certification and be qualified to rent equipment and conduct dives independent of a professional up to a depth of 18 meters anywhere in the world…
