Emergency First Response Instructor (EFRI) training takes you to a new level in care. Teaching other how to respond in an emergency situation. You are becoming a vital part of the chain. The EFRI course introduces you to teaching techniques that you can also use as a PADI diving instructor and will expand upon, on the IDC and IE for which this course is a pre-requisite. It is a really useful qualification to have, which can also be financially rewarding. For example selling EFR courses in schools, hotels and life saving clubs for example. This is not just to do with diving but any walk of life.

Course Structure

The course takes place over 1-2 days during which you will learn about EFR, how to structure a course, teaching techniques and practice, how to market EFR and general standards and procedures. You will give teaching presentations to the EFR Instructor Trainer after which they will give positive feedback and things to work upon. Before completion of the Instructor course there is a written multiple choice final exam.

Chris is an Emergency First Response Instructor Trainer and has been one of the most active EFR ITs in Asia: he attended the release of Emergency First Response at the DEMA show in October 2002 and was amongst the first in the world to teach this course.

In October 2003 Chris attended the release of the EFR Care for Children Course and in November 2003 Chris taught the first EFR Care for Children Course in Asia.

In July 2004 Chris traveled to Sydney and became an EFR First Aid at Work Instructor Trainer.

Chris offers the EFR and EFR Care for Children Instructor courses monthly.

EFR courses may be taught to both divers and non-divers alike who want training in CPR and Basic First Aid.

EFR is a vital Instructor rating to have as Rescue Divers need CPR and First Aid training and of course Divemaster and Assistant Instructor need current CPR and First Aid training.

Emergency First Response Instructor (1 ½ days)

This one and a half day program allows ANYONE holding the rating of EFR Primary / Secondary Care and EFR Care for Children to become Emergency First Response Instructors.

This course can be split into two parts: EFR Primary / Secondary Care (for adults) and EFR Care for Children, which deals with CPR and First Aid for infants and children.

During the Emergency First Response Instructor course, you will build on the skills you learnt during your EFR course but the focus shifts to developing your instructional abilities to teach these skills to others rather than simply the ability to be able to do the skills.

The instructor course covers specific goals and performance requirements required for the Primary Care, Secondary Care and Care for Children courses, looks at how to structure the course, the requirements of performance-based training, and your role as the instructor which his slightly different to your role as a Scuba Diving Instructor.

The course is relaxed and low stress and is integrated into the IDC to allow you some more fun and teaching practice before the IE

Remember: to attend an EFR Instructor Course you MUST have EFR Primary / Secondary Care certification with the past 24 months. Those without just Contact Chris
