PADI Specialty Instructor Courses on Phuket are a great way to improve your chances of getting work

PADI Specialty Instructor Courses

Completing your PADI Instructor Course and becoming a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor is a huge step in anybody’s scuba diving career! However, when looking for work as a PADI Instructor, having Specialty Instructor qualifications can make a big difference in your diving career. Don't be disheartened, as it is the same as entering any new profession. However, the bottom line is you are "just another new PADI Instructor looking for work" after your IE. As such, this is where Specialty Instructor ratings become especially valuable. Consequently, if you are serious about working in the Scuba Diving Industry, there are some questions you need to ask yourself:

First of all -  "Why should XYZ Dive Centre employ me?"

Furthermore - "What have I got to offer them and their customers which another Instructor cannot?"

Remember as a PADI OWSI you can teach The PADI Open Water Course through to PADI Divemaster, but not PADI Specialty Courses. Not only are Specialty Courses some of the most fun courses to teach as a PADI Instructor, but also to take as student divers. However, you need to become a Specialty Instructor to be able to teach PADI Specialties and be one step ahead of the rest!

So which PADI Specialty Courses can YOU teach? And consequently, what can YOU offer that the next PADI Instructor to walk in can't?

  • Duration: 1 - 2 days
  • Pre-requisites: a renewed PADI instructor or have completed an IDC/OWSI within the past 12 months, Completed Diving Medical
  • Minimum Age: 18

PADI Specialty Instructor Courses are important for anyone serious about working as a PADI Instructor.

This is why we have included the Nitrox PADI Specialty Instructor Course in all our PADI Instructor Development packages. As Chris knows just how important it is to have this PADI Specialty Instructor qualification and most of all wants you to be successful in your diving career.

PADI Specialty Instructor Training Courses are designed to show candidates how to organize, promote and also conduct PADI Specialty Diver Courses.

A Specialty Instructor Course here on Phuket does vary in price. This is because some Specialty Instructor Courses have 1 Open Water Training dive whereas others have 2 dives. And an Instructor Course, like PADI Emergency Oxygen Provider or Equipment Specialist obviously has no dives. In addition sometimes the Specialty Instructor dives can be done from the beach. This is good option for something like Underwater Navigation which takes time to set up and run properly. By contrast others like PADI Wreck Diver Specialty or Deep Specialty Instructor Courses, (the two most popular after EANx), obviously have to be done from a boat.

Specialty Instructor Course Pricing

Specialty Instructor Course prices start from 4,200 THB for a 1 dive course. And from 5,600 THB for a 2 dive course. Consequently the cheapest way to take them is as a Specialty Instructor package. Hence our "Pro Gold" IDC package which includes a minimum of 5 Specialty Instructor Courses.

Prices quoted here are for tuition but do NOT include the price of personal equipment such as SMBs, reels, torches and so on. The reason for this is because, as PADI Professional, you are expected to own your own equipment. Also not included are any PADI application fees, PADI materials such as manuals or boat fees.
